The Xia IV Cachepot is made of hand-painted porcelain with terracotta arabesques and flowers. It is a cachepot: the plant stays in its own pot inside, while the porcelain remains on show.
With a 74 cm diameter and 49 cm height, it is a floor piece for entryways, large halls and covered verandas. The size suits palms and indoor trees in a large pot.
The same painting is available in sizes II, III and IV, allowing a group of different heights in a hall or covered veranda.
The Xia line covers the porcelain with terracotta arabesques and flowers, drawn in fine spirals over white. Up close, you see open flowers among the foliage; from afar, the piece reads as a continuous terracotta surface.
Near the rim runs a Greek key band, the right-angled motif that repeats around the piece, and the base ends in a frieze of petals. Thin blue lines separate these bands from the body, and the wide, outward-turned rim repeats the terracotta.
Because it is hand-painted, the linework and placement of motifs vary slightly from one piece to another.
Before choosing, measure your plant’s pot: it must be narrower than the cachepot’s mouth, with clearance to insert and remove it without scraping the painted rim.
At 40 kg empty, position the cachepot in its final spot before placing the plant. To move it, two people should lift from the base, not from the rim.
Clean with a soft cloth, dry or slightly damp. Avoid abrasives and rough sponges that can scratch the painting. Porcelain is hard but not impact-resistant: protect the piece from knocks when moving furniture nearby.
Use a saucer under the plant pot so watering does not collect at the bottom of the cachepot. On wood floors, a felt pad under the base protects the surface.
The intended use is as a cachepot: the plant remains in its own pot, with a saucer, and the set goes inside the porcelain. This makes plant changes easier and keeps watering away from the piece.
